Summary | Coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) that broke out at the end of 2019 spread out all over the world in the following year, causing a pandemic. In the aftermath, academic conferences, study group meetings, etc. scheduled to be held throughout the nation were canceled one after another. Medical clerical officers had planned to attend attended academic conferences, study group meetings and other events for several purposes such as collecting information on efforts made by other institutions and improving their skills, but lost those opportunities. With this background, we planned and conducted an online information exchange meeting using a web meeting system. This experience made us feel that it could be also applied to other occasions including training workshops and study sessions. In an online training workshop, a lecturer and attendees can get together on the Internet in real time and hold an interactive workshop where they communicate with each other. We thought that both the parties were able to reduce their psychological distance despite the actual physical distance. This initiative is, depending on its further innovation, expected to develop in the future not only under the COVID-19 pandemic but also as a form of new information sharing and learning. |
